Construction Information

As part of the Community Development Department, the Construction Office administers and enforces the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code.

A full time enforcing agency, the Township of Evesham Construction Office is comprised of the Construction Official, Building, Electrical, Fire Protection and Plumbing Subcode Officials, and sufficient support staff to enable an efficient and professional level of service to our Township.

Here you will find come helpful guidelines and information regarding how to obtain permits.

Obtaining a Construction Permit

Permits must be obtained before the start of work except in cases of emergency replacement of furnaces, boilers and water heaters which will be allowed as long as the Construction Office is notified of the replacement at the time of installation and permits are obtained within three (3) business days thereafter (per the provisions of NJAC 5:23-2.17A et. seq).

Please be aware that it is the joint responsibility of the Homeowner/Site Owner and/or the Contractor to ensure that construction permits are obtained and that all required inspections are scheduled throughout construction and/or completion of work. A zoning permit also may be required depending on the type of work/construction project.

Please contact our office at (856) 983-2914 ext. 4 before commencing work if you are unsure of whether a permit is necessary or not.

Roof Permits

All commercial buildings required roofing permits.

Residential roof permits are required for all attached buildings and require notification to the Building Official exactly 24 hours prior to “start of work”.

Sheathing replacement on any roof requires a permit and requires notification to the Building Official exactly 24 hours prior to “start of work”.
