The Township of Evesham operates under the Council-Manager form of local government, as established by NJSA 40:69A-81.
The Council-Manager concept places the responsibility for policy development in the hands of an elected governing body (Evesham Township Council), while the manager is responsible for day-to-day operations and policy implementation.
Township council consists of five members, elected in at-large elections, including a directly elected mayor.
The council's function is similar to that of a corporate board of directors. Council selects and hires a manager on the basis of executive training and experience.
The manager serves as a non-partisan professional ready to carry out the policies passed by council and established through the democratic-representative process.
