The local Marlton Muslim Families group is working together with Evesham Township to host an inaugural Ramadan Crescent Moon Lighting Ceremony on Friday, March 8!
This event will be held at the corner of Main Street & Maple Avenue and will help our township mark the start of Ramadan on Sunday, March 10.
In addition to the lighting of a Crescent Moon display, the event will feature a brief introduction about the significance of the holy month of Ramadan, a prayer led by Imam John Starling of the Gracious Center of Learning & Enrichment Activities Mosque in Cherry Hill, and remarks from local officials.
The Crescent Moon will be displayed throughout the entirety of the holy month until April 9.
Residents of all faiths and backgrounds are invited to join for this event, which will serve as yet another symbol of the inclusivity and comradery among those of different backgrounds in Evesham Township. As a gesture of hospitality to all attendees, Marlton Muslim Families will conclude the event with light refreshments, including coffee and cookies.
(A rain date for the event is planned for Saturday, March 9, at the same time/location)
