Evesham named 'Healthy Town' winner for third consecutive year by the Mayors Wellness Campaign under the NJ Health Care Quality Institute

MWC Healthy Town 2022

Evesham Township is proud to once again be among the 14 select municipalities in New Jersey named as “Healthy Town” winners for 2022.

This is Evesham Township’s third consecutive year to achieve the “Healthy Town” designation, which is the highest ranking a municipality can achieve in the Mayors Wellness Campaign (MWC) through The New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute.

Municipalities that rank in the MWC do so by improving the health of residents in their communities with innovative programs and opportunities for residents to stay healthy in all aspects of their lives.

Each year, communities participating in the MWC complete a comprehensive Healthy Town application outlining the research they’ve done to identify their community health needs and explaining how they have organized their local MWC committee. The application also highlights the actions the towns have taken to make their communities healthier places to live, work and play.

“The MWC has been an invaluable partner in Evesham’s efforts to continually reevaluate and expand the ways our municipality delivers programs to support our residents’ physical, mental and spiritual health,” Mayor Jaclyn Veasy said. “I look forward to our township being a part of this great initiative for years to come.”

Just some of Evesham Township’s many efforts to promote general wellness in the past year have included:

  • Maintaining top-quality parks and sports fields
  • Providing seasonal recreation programs for residents of all ages to focus on athletic opportunities or learning new skills and hobbies
  • Maintaining the municipally-owned Indian Spring Golf Course
  • Continually running the annual Evesham Triple-A Summer Camp
  • Organizing the Marlton Farmers Markets during the late spring and summer months to give residents an opportunity to get outside and make healthy eating choices
  • Providing various seminars throughout the year to educate residents and assist them in making better decisions for their physical or financial health
  • Using large township facilities to help local organizations hold blood drives when other venues are unavailable
  • Having the Evesham Township Police Department hold outdoor exercise boot camps, women’s self-defense classes and other large scale community sports activities

In addition to all those listed above, Evesham Township is proud to now also host an annual Wellness Festival.

This event was held for the first time in 2022 to bring together a variety of healthcare providers, vendors and physical exercise demonstrations in one convenient location for residents.

The 2023 Evesham Wellness Festival: ‘Supporting Mind, Body, Soul’ returns on Saturday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Promenade at Sagemore Shopping Center. The event is free for all members of the public, and all are encouraged to attend.

Space is also still open for healthcare providers and vendors! Provider/vendor registration is available at https://lf.evesham-nj.gov/Forms/vendorapp

(Application due date is April 15)

The Evesham Wellness Festival is in partnership with the Mayors Wellness Campaign Committee, The Promenade at Sagemore, the Evesham Township Youth Advisory Committee and Ancient Healing Pathways.
