Evesham Branch Library undergoing major renovations for first time; new technology opportunities and expanded spaces to follow

Evesham Township’s Mayor and Council, the Burlington County Commissioners, and the Burlington County Library System (BCLS) are excited to announce the start of renovations to the Evesham Library, marking the first major improvements to the BCLS library branch in its nearly 30-year history.

“We are absolutely thrilled to partner with Burlington County to invest in this transformative project for our library,” said Evesham Mayor Jaclyn Veasy. “The Evesham Library is a vital hub in our community that welcomes visitors of all ages on a daily basis, and these modernizations will ensure that our residents continue to have access to a top-tier facility for years to come.”

“Evesham is Burlington County’s most populous municipality, so it’s absolutely essential that it continue to have a state-of-the-art library to serve the town and the surrounding communities,” added Burlington County Commissioner Tom Pullion, liaison to the Burlington County Library System. “The planned improvements will modernize the library spaces and ensure the library continues to be an asset our residents can rely on.”

“Libraries are more than just buildings and books; they’re critical infrastructure that provide enrichment and essential services for our communities,” said Burlington County Library Commission Chair Jonathan Chebra. “The improvements planned for the Evesham library will allow it to better serve residents of all ages and become an even greater resource for the community.”

Work on the interior improvements is underway and is expected to be completed before the end of the year. The library will remain open and operational during the work.

The planned improvements to the library include retrofitting the existing space to increase the size of the library activity/meeting room, expanding the children’s area, and construction of a new dedicated technology center. The upgrades will ensure the library space is functional, accessible, and technologically equipped to serve the evolving needs of the Evesham community.

Some of the details of the expected work include:

• For the activity room, an existing wall and several closets will be removed to create more space. Library staff will have access to wall storage units, supply closet, wall cabinets, and a new sink.
• The children’s room will be expanded by removing old shelving. A new wall will be installed to better define the area.
• The new technology center will feature a stylish glass wall partition and full electrical upgrades to support new computers and technology. 

The improvements are designed by Remington & Vernick Engineers, and the work is being performed by Aliano Brothers General Contractors Inc. Both companies were contracted by Evesham, which is overseeing construction.

State funding for library improvements

The $500,000 project, a partnership between Evesham and the Burlington County Library System, is being partially funded by a $1 million state grant for capital improvements to the BCLS secured by State Senator Troy Singleton in the FY2023 State Budget.

BCLS provided $250,000 for the Evesham Branch renovation. The remainder of the grant was allocated to projects at the BCLS Main Branch Library in Westampton, and to the Pemberton Township and Cinnaminson Branches.

Evesham is matching the BCLS support and covering the remaining expenses for the update to the library, which first opened in 1998 as part of the new Municipal Building complex.

“Libraries are significant and important institutions in Burlington County and across the State of New Jersey. They provide endless learning opportunities for residents of all ages and serve as the foundation of many communities,” said Senator Singleton. “Improvements and upgrades like the ones planned at the Evesham Library are vital because they ensure our libraries remain places open to all members of our community to come together to learn, study and recreate. I was proud to secure this funding to help modernize the Evesham library and others across the county.”

The Pemberton renovations were completed earlier this year, and work on the Cinnaminson Library should be completed later this fall. Improvements at the Main Branch Library are still in the planning and design stage.

Evesham is one of BCLS’s most popular locations

In 2025, more than 215,390 checkouts were reported at the Evesham branch library, making it the second most used location in the BCLS behind only the Main Branch Library. The Evesham branch library also had the second highest number of active users with 9,977 active accounts. Approximately 16% of BCLS cardholders have named Evesham their preferred or home location.

The renovations also underscore Evesham’s and the County’s support for lifelong learning.
