Evesham Township is proud to announce that the municipality is partnering with Chartwell Family Oasis this summer to host a new, six-week adaptive summer day camp dedicated to serving local children with special needs.

The program will be offered from July 6 to Aug. 14 at a reduced cost to participants due to funding secured by Evesham Township through a $20,000 Recreational Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities (ROID) grant from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (NJ DCA).

Participants ages 4 to 14 will participate in a wide array of activities including adaptive sports, swimming, and personalized recreational programming designed to foster physical development, build trust, and enhance social confidence.

This summertime program can help fill a potential gap where youth with developmental disabilities may otherwise have been vulnerable to social isolation and developmental skill regression during summer months when schools are typically out.

With this program, families can ensure that the special needs of their children will not be a barrier to safe, equitable, and engaging summer recreation.

Funding will allow for the hiring of dedicated support staff at Chartwell with backgrounds in Special Needs Education, who will work weekly to provide structured, small-group support at tailored to each child's comfort level and unique functional needs.

"Our township is completely committed to breaking down the structural and financial barriers that keep our youth with special needs from thriving alongside their peers,” Mayor Jaclyn Veasy said “We are incredibly grateful to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs for providing the funding to make this possible, and to Chartwell Family Oasis for partnering with us to host this beautiful, inclusive camp experience."

The program is currently scheduled to begin on July 6. Families interested in participating or looking for more details on registration are encouraged to visit chartwellfun.com for pricing and more information.

Spaces are limited.
