Welcome to the resources page for individuals who experience disabilities, as organized by the Evesham Township Department of Community Affairs, Seniors, Veterans and Disabilities Services.
This page provides relevant information for our residents who experience disabilities, as well as their families and/or caregivers. Keeping our community informed and connected is part of Evesham Township’s mission to serve as a resource center for our residents.
- Sports Unity Program through the Marlton Rec Council - This local group of volunteres provides the opportunity for athletes with special needs to participate in organized sports. Coaches, buddies and parents work together to help all children enjoy athletics. Children learn and group among peers in a safe environment. The program is free to participants and includes the equipment needed to play.
- Special Needs Adult Program (SNAP) - This free program is open to adults 18 and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The group typically meets several times a month at the Gibson House Community Center for fun activities such as craft projects, yoga, small holiday parties and other fun activities. - St. Joan of Arc Caritas Ministry for Special Needs - The Caritas Ministry serves the parishoners of the St. Joan of Arc Parish with special needs so they may worship together; and have the blessing of the presence and participation in parish life of ALL.
- The Arc of Burlington County - This non-profit group serves adults with intellectual and other developmental disabilities and their families throughout Burlington County. The group offers programs such as ommunity residential homes and apartments for adults, adult day programs, extensive recreation programs for adults with developmental disabilities, and Home and Community Services to help individuals who need assistance with life skills, money management, shopping, medical appointments, and a range of other activities, while still maintaining independence in their own homes.
- SE4SK - Special Events for Special Kids - This nonprofit hosts friendly events for children with special needs and or disabilities that are completely FREE of charge. All of the group’s events are located in Southern New Jersey, typically in Camden or Gloucester counties. All events are funded solely from donations and the kindness of others.
- Kiids - This non-profit is based in Southern New Jersey to provide parents of children with Down syndrome with the information and the necessary resources to help their child reach his/her full potential, supports the individual with Down syndrome as well as her/his family through social and educational events and shares accurate and up-to-date knowledge and information with medical professionals, educational professionals, and the public about Down syndrome. The group has family get-togethers, hosts educational presentations and provides various opportunities for sharing information and support.
- Bringing Up Down Syndrome (BUDS) of Southern New Jersey - BUDS works to help families of children with Down syndrome address issues associated with raising a child with Down syndrome. The group organizes meetings with an educational format, facilitates the development of life-long friendships, and create an environment that encourages self advocacy and promotes public awareness.
- Southern New Jersey Jewish Abilities Alliance - The South Jersey Jewish Abilities Alliance serves as a user-friendly gateway to resources in the Jewish or general community for people with disabilities by linking to resources, services, support groups, workshops and clinics and recreational programs.
- Trisomy 21 Program at CHOP - The Trisomy 21 Program at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia evaluates, treats and provides coordinated multidisciplinary care for children and adults with trisomy 21 — also known as Down syndrome.
- New Jersey Disability Services - The official website of the State of New Jersey outlining state resources and services for those who experience disabilities.
- NJ FamilyCare Aged, Blind, Disabled Programs - The NJ FamilyCare Aged, Blind, Disabled (ABD) Programs are multiple programs for people who need access to health care services in the community, or in long-term care facilities.
- New Jersey Institute for Disabilities - This non-profit agency offers specialized facilities, programs and supports throughout the State of New Jersey and beyond for infants, children and adults with developmental and related disabilities.
- Disability Rights New Jersey - New Jersey’s designated Protection and Advocacy agency under federal law. This group advances the human, civil, and legal rights of people with disabilities and promote their self-determination, independence, productivity, and integration into all facets of community life.
- New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education (NJCIE) - This organization partners with neighborhood schools to create inclusive learning communities where students who experience disabilities and learning differences are welcomed as classmates, valued as learners, and empowered to succeed.The group provides professional development offerings, consultation and coaching services and more.
- New Jersey Children’s System of Care - PerformCare, a member of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies, is a national, full-service behavioral health managed care organization. The organization supports members and its network of providers through specialized behavioral health and human services programs in both the public and private sectors. PerformCare serves millions of members nationwide, including over 50,000 youth and families in New Jersey.
- Statewide Parent Advocacy Network (SPAN) - This advocacy group supports children with special needs through multiple projects and programs for parents of children from birth to age 21, all the while teaching families and caregivers to be advocates for their children and leaders in their communities in collaboration with their school districts.
- U.S. Social Security Administration: benefits for those who experience disabilites - Learn how to apply for Social Security and Supplemental Security Income disability programs, learn about benefit eligibility, review the disability determination process, find information on health insurance options through Medicare/Medicaid and more.
- National Disability Rights Network - This groups works on behalf of the Protection and Advocacy Systems (P&As) and Client Assistance Programs (CAPs), which are the nation’s largest providers of legal advocacy services for people with disabilities. NDRN promotes the network’s capacity, ensures that P&As/CAPs remain strong and effective by providing training and technical assistance, and advocates for laws protecting the civil and human rights of all people with disabilities.
- National Military Family Association Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) - The primary role of the EFMP is to prevent special needs military families from being sent to locations without adequate medical or educational services. DOD policy also allows (but does not require) the military services to provide family support services specifically for exceptional family members at family centers on military installations with an EFMP. Available services vary, and in some locations, EFMPs offer respite care and/or recreational programs that can accommodate family members with special needs.
- DO-IT: Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and Technology Center - An organizaiton dedicated to empowering people who experience disabilities through technology and education. It promotes awareness and accessibility—in both the classroom and the workplace—to maximize the potential of individuals who experience disabilities and make communities more vibrant, diverse, and inclusive.
