Do you love nature? Do you have an interest in local habitats and our regional ecosystem?
If yes, then WE WANT YOU to help us with our BIOBLITZ project on Sept. 21!
On Sept. 21, Evesham Township is asking residents to use the iNaturalist app to capture the nature around them all day long.
Whether you are in your own yard or visiting one of the many parks in Evesham, we ask that you (safely) take photos of the wildlife you observe and upload the information to the iNaturalist app to build a better understanding of Evesham’s wildlife!
Unfamiliar with iNaturalist? It's a free online database where you can receive help identifying the different species you see and also contribute scientific data used by amateurs and professionals worldwide to better understand our planet’s biodiversity.
If you have more questions, a tutorial for using iNaturalist and its sister app “Seek” is scheduled Sept. 18 at noon.
Register for the Sept. 18 virtual tutorial here: https://engage.pinelandsalliance.org/bacssept182024
Help stations with local naturalists will also be set up in Evesham Township's Black Run Preserve on Saturday, Sept. 21 for help using the apps, as well as providing educational information about the flora, fauna, and history of the Pinelands.
This project is part of Evesham’s Sustainable Jersey Grant program and in partnership with the Pinelands Preservation Alliance.
