The Construction Office administers and enforces the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code. A full time enforcing agency, the Township of Evesham Construction Office is comprised of the Construction Official, Building, Electrical, Fire Protection and Plumbing Subcode Officials, and sufficient support staff to enable an efficient and professional level of service to our Township.

Based on intended use, the UCC regulates how structures must be constructed to insure the health, safety and welfare of the public. It also provides the means for state-licensed code officials to review plans, issue permits and inspect construction to insure that minimum code standards are met and appropriate building materials are used, thereby reducing potential hazards due to unsafe construction.

The type, location and extent of the work to be performed for any given project will determine what type(s) of permit(s) will be required to perform the intended work. Certain projects and types of work may also require the prior approval of the Planning Board or Zoning Board of Adjustment before any permit applications can be made.

Permits must be obtained before the start of work except in cases of emergency replacement of furnaces, boilers and water heaters which will be allowed as long as the Construction Office is notified of the replacement at the time of installation and permits are obtained within three (3) business days thereafter (per the provisions of NJAC 5:23-2.17A et. seq).

The Uniform Construction Code provisions enable ordinary building maintenance and equipment repair without the necessity of applying for a permit (unless the work to be done is in a historic building). Please see “Do I Need a Permit?” for further information.

Please see our Forms and Documents Sections for Construction Permit Application paperwork and other information including our current Fee Schedule.

Please be aware that it is the joint responsibility of the Homeowner/Site Owner and/or the Contractor to ensure that construction permits are obtained and that all required inspections are scheduled throughout construction and/or completion of work.

The Construction Department is located in the Community Development office, on the second floor of the Township of Evesham Municipal Building in Room 204.
