Youth Advisory Committee Meeting: 'Mock Council Meeting'

The Evesham Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) will hold a “Mock Council Meeting” on Thursday, Sept. 9, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Courtroom of the Evesham Township Municipal Complex at 984 Tuckerton Road.

The meeting allows the township's youth to learn about the process of municipal government by simulating a government meeting of their own that mirrors the rules and procedures used by township council!

Officers of YAC serve as “elected officials” in order to debate various fun and interesting topics, while the other members of YAC and those in the audience raise their own questions or concerns for the mock council.

All members of the public are invited to this event, especially those families with kids in grades six through 12 who might have an interest in learning more about YAC and potentially having their children join the group.

YAC members are local students in grade six to 12 that actively participate in the learning experience of how government performs on a local level and regularly has their voices heard by councilmembers and other township officials.

The group also regularly engages in community service projects to better Evesham Township and distributes information to promote the wellbeing of the township’s younger residents.
