About Evesham Township

Evesham Township is the most populated municipality is Burlington County, NJ, with more than 45,000 residents and more than 18,000 residential addresses. 

The township is a family-friendly suburb located 20 miles east of Philadelphia. Homes in Evesham Township have an average assessed home value of $271,600.

Evesham is one of the major commercial centers of Southern New Jersey. The town hosts more than 2,000 businesses across various small, medium and large-scale shopping centers, office parks and other commercial sites.

The township also serves as the intersection of NJ Route 70 and NJ Route 73, with tens of thousands of visitors passing through the township each and every day.

The township's municipal government is organized under the council-manager form, with Evesham Township Council consisting of five members.

The Mayor is directly elected to four-year terms by voters at-large, with the other four other members of council also directly elected to staggered, four-year terms by voters at-large.

The Council-Manager form of municipal governance places the responsibility for policy development in the hands of an elected governing body (Evesham Township Council), while the manager is responsible for day-to-day operations and policy implementation.

Schools

Lower-level students residing in the township can attend one six elementary schools or two middle schools as part of the Evesham Township School District. The Evesham Township School District is overseen by the ETSD Board of Education, which is a separate governing body from the township with the power to implement its own policies and set its own tax rates.

High school aged students residing in the township can attend Cherokee High School, which is part of the Lenape Regional School District. The Lenape Regional High School District is overseen by the LRHSD Board of Education, which is a separate governing body from the township with the power to implement its own policies and set its own tax rates. 

In addition to Cherokee High School in Evesham Township, other schools in the LRHSD include Lenape High School in Mount Laurel Township, Shawnee High School in Medford Township, and Seneca High School in Tabernacle Township.

Other Agencies

Fire and EMS services in the township are managed through Evesham Fire-Rescue. This is a separate agency from the township and is overseen by the Evesham Fire District No. 1 Board of Fire Commissioners. 

Water and sewer supply, distribution, collection, treatment and disposal operations are owned/managed by the Evesham Municipal Utilities Authority. This is a separate agency from the township and is overseen by the Evesham MUA Board of Commissioners. Although the MUA is a separate agency from the municipality and has its own powers and authorities to set rates, members of the MUA Board of Commissioners are nominated by The Mayor and approved by Evesham Township Council.
