Patricia (PAT) Hansen is a 29-year resident of Evesham Township and retired Human Resources Assignment Specialist for Amtrak. Pat resides with her spouse and has lived in Evesham since 1989.

After graduating high school, Pat began working for Amtrak in 1973, and worked there for 41 years. She started in reservations and worked her way up, becoming one of only two female forklift operators in the Amtrak warehouse Her professional trajectory led her to be a secretary and work in materials management, the baggage room, payroll and, ultimately, as a Human Resources Assignment Specialist. In this role, Pat served as the liaison between management and 6,000+ union employees from, at varying times, Wilmington, Philadelphia, Boston and Washington, DC. Pat was responsible for assigning jobs to Amtrak’s union employees and ensuring contract compliance.

During her long tenure at Amtrak, Pat was elected to five terms as the president of the 3,200-member Transportation Communications Union covering the Philadelphia district. She worked to clean up the organization and end management neglect. Pat also mentored the next union president and was part of a team that protected employees from unfair terminations. Prior to the 2015 Supreme Court civil rights decision, Pat worked to ensure that Amtrak employees and their same-sex partners had the same benefits and equality as married employees, which required advocating for changing federal regulations and laws.

Pat has engaged in many diverse experiences since her retirement. She holds her Residential Estate Appraiser certification in NJ and she is a graduate of the very first class of Evesham Township Police Department Citizen's Police Academy. Pat has also enjoyed participating in Evesham community activities such as transporting our seniors in need of assistance, cleaning up hiking trails at the Black Run Preserve, taking art classes at the Center for the Arts in Southern New Jersey and attending community and civic meetings.
