AUGUST 2016 GEM AWARD GOES TO MS. DARLENE CAMPBELL

Evesham Township Manager, Thomas Czerniecki, announced the recipient of the Township’s August 2016 Going the Extra Mile Award (GEM) is Ms. Darlene Campbell of the Township’s Tax Assessment Department.  This special award recognizes employees who go above and beyond their basic duties and exemplify the Township’s core values, which stress personal integrity, professional excellence and celebrate the value of public service.

Ms. Campbell is an Assessing Clerk and is certified by the State of New Jersey as a Tax Assessor.  She joined Evesham in 2012 after working as an assistant tax assessor and tax assessor in several small municipalities. Over this summer, the Ms. Campbell was nominated for the award by a real estate agent who was working to help a military family relocate to the area from outside of New Jersey.  Unfortunately, the home they were ready to purchase had some work completed by previous owners that never received permits and represented a liability for the new owners if not resolved.  Instead of simply redirecting the agent to another department, Ms. Campbell took it upon herself to coordinate and serve as facilitator between the various departments involved minimizing any inconvenience for our new residents. The real estate agent wrote the following about Ms. Campbell on his nomination form, “Without Darlene’s quick response on the phone, excellent continued follow-up, honesty and professionalism throughout, this (property closing) wouldn’t have been possible.”

Ms. Campbell is also an active volunteer in her community having been involved with both the Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts of America in a leadership role.  She is also an active member of her church, Gibbsboro United Methodist Church.

The GEM program is co-sponsored by the Marlton Business Association (MBA), which has historically been an advocate of professional business practices in local government.  Award recipients will receive a gift card from an MBA member business, a small gift bearing the Township’s seal, and be recognized by the Township Council. The accomplishments of the recipients will also be catalogued and documented in a special section of the municipal web site.

A GEM Award candidate may be nominated by any member of the staff or by residents.  The Township Manager makes the award based on the recommendation of an independent rotating five-member committee consisting of management, staff, and representatives of the Township’s two labor unions.
